Care and Advocacy for Children with Disabilities
Our dedicated programs ensuring equal opportunities and support for children with disabilities across Rwanda.
Inclusive Education for Children with Disabilities
Children with disabilities have an equal right to access an inclusive, quality education, and a right to the support and adaptations necessary to facilitate their learning.
Likewise, no child should be denied the right to access and complete an inclusive, quality education due to poverty and recognizes that poverty exacerbates the likelihood of exclusion for girls or children with disabilities.

HOW DOES ACF RWANDA SUPPORT CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES?
ACF RWANDA is committed to ensuring that every child completes a quality, inclusive education without discrimination or exclusion.

Success Story: Anitha's Journey
In the last year, our inclusive education programme has supported Anitha, child with disability of Mubuga Primary school in Miyove sector, who had dropped out during 2 years because of lack of assistive device. In collaboration with UPHLS we could provide her with a wheelchair and reintegrated her to school with essential scholastic materials such as uniform, notebooks etc. Our advocacy aimed also to provide specialized physiotherapy and rehabilitation services to our beneficiaries in collaboration with our key stakeholders.
Education Free From Violence
ACF RWANDA asserts that every child has the right to learn in a safe and secure environment, free from the fear or threat of violence. This is an inseparable aspect of a quality education.
We believe it is unacceptable that any child should be a victim of violence of any description either in school, or on the journey to and from school – including sexual violence or harassment, bullying and intimidation, and corporal punishment. We recognize that school-related gender-based violence is a significant factor preventing girls from accessing and completing school and are committed to eliminating such violence through our advocacy and programming work.
